Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
The Official Policy of Mercer University with regard to protection of and access to student records is published annually in the Academic Information section of the Mercer University Catalog. Only categories of student information which have been determined by the University to be "directory information" may be released without the student’s consent. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
Borrowers may authorize the Student Loan Office of Mercer University to release information contained in their student records to individual(s) upon written request. Please note that this authorization will remain in effect until a written request is submitted for changes to the Student Loan Office. Proceed to Student Records Release Authorization (FERPA) form to submit to our office via fax, mail, or email for approval.
